A County Positive – Shelter Working Well

Allegany County’s animal shelter found itself in difficulties last year, leading many to believe that it could close or cease to be a no-kill shelter after the Animal Shelter Foundation disbanded. Commissioner Bill Atkinson, who is running for re-election, said that one of the more positive things that’s been accomplished for the county is the continued progress at the shelter…

“We will continue to help and work with them. Continue to keep the numbers down as best we can. But we also know we’re going to continue to keep that as a no-kill shelter. I know that has come up. That is still the policy of running the shelter and it’s been operating very well under new leadership.”
