Health Department Tips This Week

The Allegany County Health Department has issued guidelines for residents during the current heat wave.  Any strenuous activities should be done in early morning or evening hours.  Residents should check on the welfare of senior citizens, especially those without air conditioning.  Pets and animals should be protected and only walked during cooler hours.  Signs of heat-related issues include heavy sweating, nausea, muscle cramps, dizziness, and fainting.  Residents are urged to drink plenty of water and visit cooling stations whenever possible
