Special Session First Week of August

The Maryland General Assembly will convene in a special session August 3-5 as they consider moves to redraw Maryland’s Congressional districts.  Of Maryland’s 8 Congressional districts, 7 are already held by Democrats.  The move is supported by Governor Wes Moore, House Speaker Joseline Pena Melnyk, and now Senate President Bill Ferguson, who stalled the issue earlier in the year.  The target will undoubtedly be Congressional District 1, now held by Republican Andy Harris.
