Arrest Warrant for Burglary, Disorderly Conduct

On Sunday, July 12th, 2026, the Cumberland Police Department arrested Ajax Benjamin Zavitz, 37, of Cumberland MD. Zavitz was arrested on an active Arrest Warrant issued by the Allegany County District Court for an incident that occurred on July 9th, at a residence in the 700 block of Maryland Ave. During that incident, it is alleged that Zavitz broke into the residence and threatened the occupants with a weapon. It was also alleged that he threatened to burn the home down as well. Zavitz appeared before a District Court Commissioner and was remanded to the Allegany County Detention Center. He is currently being held without bond.

CHARGES – Burglary 3rd Degree, Burglary 4th Degree, Arson/Threat, Dangerous Weapon-Intent to Injure, Disorderly Conduct, Disturb the Peace.
