County Conducting Water Service Line Survey

Allegany County is asking water customers to complete a Water Service Line Survey in order to identify service line materials.  Information can be found at alleganygov.org where the survey can also be completed.  Kati Kenney with the County says the needed information from property owners fulfils a federal requirement under the Environmental Protection Agency’s Lead and Copper Rule Revisions…

“What we’re trying to identify is the material of the water service line that runs from the water meter into a home or building. The County has records for County-owned infrastructure, but the portion on the customer side of the meter is typically private property, so we may not know what that pipe is.”
