PA State Budget Has Modest Wins for Kids and Families

Pennsylvania’s new state budget, totaling more than 50 billion dollars, makes only modest investments in children’s programs, according to one non-profit. Monies include $3.75 million for Pre-K Counts and $1 million for Head Start, well below the governor’s proposed $9.5 million.  Kari King of Pennsylvania Partnerships for Children is concerned coming Medicaid cuts will cause a ripple effect into next year’s budget…

“There’s going to be additional stressors on the state budget next year due to these federal cuts. And ultimately, what we’re worried will happen is with those federal cuts to Medicaid, that folks will unnecessarily fall out of coverage, particularly kids.”
