Republicans Won’t Make Redistricting Effort Comfortable

Maryland State Senate Minority Leader Steve Hershey talked to WBAL over the weekend about the coming special session in Annapolis on redistricting. Hershey said that since no other issues will be discussed, Republicans will not make the task easy for Dems. He also said Western Maryland’s Sixth District could see some changes when lines are redrawn because so much of Montgomery County is in it…
“Anytime that they dilute one Republican district, they’re going to have to dilute Democrat districts as well. I think that’s one of the issues Senate President Ferguson had when we were looking at this in our 2026 legislative session is be careful what you wish for.”
