Disorderly Arrest on Train

On Tuesday, August 4th, 2026, the Cumberland Police Department responded to the Amtrak station on E. Harrison St for the report of a disorderly male on an inbound train. Upon arrival, officers contacted Amtrak staff members who advised that an intoxicated male passenger had been creating a disturbance on the train, yelling at other passengers, and attempting to deboard when not permitted. Due to his behavior, Amtrak staff advised that he needed to be removed from the train. Officers then contacted the male who then became belligerent with officers. Throughout the incident, the subject continued to act disorderly, cursing at officers, staff, and passengers. Due to his behavior, the subject was placed under arrest. The subject, Michael Patrick Mattocks, 61, of St Paul Minnesota, was taken before a District Court Commissioner for an Initial Appearance where he was remanded to the Allegany County Detention Center. He is currently being held on a $2,500 bond.
