Amendment Could Face Legal Battle

Shortcuts may have been taken in the special session this week in Annapolis that may lead to a legal challenge of the outcome. Legislators met to pass a bill creating a referendum on a constitutional amendment that could lead to redrawing the state’s congressional districts. “And the bottom line is it’s going to be challenged almost immediately in court because they took shortcuts. You know, they missed the deadline that they actually imposed through a bill they passed this past session in Annapolis. And now, as part of a constitutional amendment, they suspended that bill. We’re not sure that’s legitimate.”
