Frostburg Looking At Bike Ordinance

The City of Frostburg is following in the footsteps of Cumberland by wanting to establish an ordinance regarding e-bikes. The bikes are gaining popularity, and trying to ensure safety for user and pedestrians is a concern. Frostburg’s mayor and council discussed the problems residents are having with motorized bikes on city sidewalks and not obeying traffic laws. City Police Chief for Frostburg Nick Costello says the police need to hear from citizens when incidents happen…

“The biggest problem we have though and I’ve told some folks in the community please call us. Sometimes they’ll say I was just run off the road and my view is with or without a sidewalk regulation, if somebody is driving recklessly, almost hitting people, we can certainly stop them under other existing state laws.”
