Public Schools Open with Convocation Monday

South Cumberland was overflowing with traffic Monday morning as over 1,000 employees of the Allegany County Public School system gathered at Fort Hill for the annual convocation to open the school year.  Kris Kehrwald, public information officer for the school system, told WCBC that the event moved quickly so teachers could return to their home schools…

“So we had about 1300 to 1400 folks crammed into the Fort Hill auditorium and it was a fantastic morning.”

Kehrwald added that along with addresses from Teacher of the Year Elaine Davis and Superintendent Dr. Michael Martirano, the school employees also heard from students.  The first day of school for students is next Tuesday, August 25.
