WV Pursues Medicaid Work Requirements

West Virginia is on track to start Medicaid work requirements beginning in January. However, according to the state’s Department of Human Services, about 33,000 Medicaid recipients do not currently meet the projected federal work or volunteer requirements of 80 hours a month. Though exceptions will be made for individuals with health issues, Mindy Holcomb with Citizen Action Group says extra steps will have to be made…
“People diagnosed with cancer, people who had HIV and other illnesses and conditions would be exempt from a work requirement. However, now those individuals with conditions like that would have to prove, individually, their inability to work.”
