Former UPMC Western Maryland Doctor Dies in Carlisle Plane Crash

Item Description: Pennsylvania flag
Kathy Cornwell

A doctor who was formerly associated with UPMC Western Maryland was killed in a mid-air collision in Carlisle, Pennsylvania.  A state police helicopter collided with the Cessna plane piloted by 57-year-old Dr. Paul Sokoloski of Hershey Thursday, taking his life and injuring the two officers.  In a press conference, Pennsylvania State Police Colonel George Bivens said it is unknown whether Sokoloski was alone…

“When I say it was a very violent crash, that plan was, uh, was cut into a lot of pieces.  And so part of the investigation will be ensuring that there was, what we believe, one occupant.”
