Judge Enjoins Redistricting Appeal

Item Description: Annapolis State House
Jim Zamagias

Maryland’s Freedom Caucus is celebrating a victory after bringing suit to stop a proposed constitutional amendment on congressional redistricting.  After the Democratic majority party in Annapolis called a special session for the referendum, the process has been deemed unlawful by a circuit court judge in Anne Arundel County. It now goes to the Maryland Supreme Court. Freedom Caucus member Delegate Matt Morgan said Dems should have followed General Assembly rules…

“They could have avoided this whole situation by following the process that they set up. Instead, they come out with this amendment a half-hour before the committee hearing and it’s supposed to exempt them from all the wrong. The General Assembly has to abide by the rules.”
