Out of State Plate Crackdown
Maryland will be cracking down on residents who still have out-of-state license plates beginning October 1st. Drivers will receive a warning and if they don’t comply, they could face daily $7 fines, up to $420 per vehicle, possible booting, towing or impoundment. MVA Administrator Christy Nizer says having current registration information helps everyone not just the vehicle owner…
“It is so important for law enforcement to have information on the vehicle that’s accurate. We want to make sure vehicles are ensured because if you’re in a collision you want that other driver to have insurance that covers you, and your vehicle. Also, safety inspections are important, so the only way for us to know that is to have the vehicle titled and registered in Maryland.”
