Emergency Prep Forum at Allegany College Thursday

AARP Maryland is hosting a forum for local residents interested in disaster preparedness.  The forum will be in the Zimmer Theater at Allegany College of Maryland starting at 5:30pm this Thursday.   AARP Maryland’s Vallee Bunting says learning preparedness for flooding and other events is essential, especially in light of last year’s flooding in Western Maryland…

“There are also other potential risks, even something as remote as potential for earthquakes.  That may be something that people also need to be kept apprised about. There are any number of risks that Marylanders may face.”

Jonathan Dayton with the Allegany-Garrett Counties Volunteer Fire Rescue Association says the event is meant for planning for any weather catastrophe…

“We just wanna make sure that folks are aware of all the options and all the steps that they should be taking now before a disaster happens, because it’s not if, it is when.”
