Local history will be honored in cemetery tours Saturday and Sunday during Heritage Days. Tours begin at Noon and 3pm at the entrance to Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery on Fayette Street. Hosted by the Cumberland Historic Cemetery Association, President Ed Taylor, Jr. tells WCBC the tour this year will focus on  American Revolution veterans…

“Mainly Capt. David Linn and the founder of our city Thomas Beall who was a Revolutionary War soldier and our first mayor and a member of the House of Delegates and one of first Allegany County commissioners.”

The tour also features a view of a replica of the Pieta and the site of an upcoming monument…

”It’s also the location where on November 1, we will be unveiling Allegany County’s 250th anniversary monument, dedicated to all deceased Allegany Countians over the past 230 years.”
