Virginia Avenue Assault, Disorderly Conduct Arrest

On Sunday, September 13, 2026, Cumberland Police Department Officers responded to an assault in the double-digit block of Virginia Avenue. Officers were provided a description of a male suspect who was assaulting a female and a direction they were walking. Officers located Jerry Brown in the parking lot of Riverbend Court on Lamont Street. Brown was uncooperative with officers and began attempting to walk away. Brown was detained and it was confirmed that he was the suspect in the assault. Brown was placed under arrest and taken to the Allegany County Detention Center for central booking. Brown was seen by the District Court Commissioner and held without bond. The victim did not require medical treatment as a result of the assault.
