Spencer Davis

The WCBC Sports Team reported on a human-interest story at the recent football game between Hollidaysburg and Fort Hill.  Spencer Davis plays tight end and defensive end for Hollidaysburg and nearly died on the practice field two years ago, according to his mother, Jennifer Davis…

“He took a hit to the chest, collapsed, and went into sudden cardiac arrest. Ultimately, he was diagnosed with commotion cordis, which is where his heart stopped when it was on a downward beat and required two shocks from an AED to bring him back.”

After the game, Spencer Davis spoke to WCBC’s Brad Reed…

“You cannot take anything for granted. Like, just being able to put on these pads again is so crucial for me and my team mates to show them what life’s really about and it’s not always about winning and losing. It’s about taking the next step and it’s truly a blessing to wake up.”
