Maryland STEM Festival brings back Month-Long Celebration

Maryland STEM Festival
Chris Myers

Maryland’s STEM Festival invites students, families, educators, and curious minds of all ages to explore science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) through hundreds of interactive, hands-on events taking place across Maryland and the District of Columbia from October 15 `till November 15. Now in its 12th year, the Maryland STEM Festival is one of the nation’s few statewide STEM festivals. The month-long celebration features a wide variety of activities, including maker workshops, engineering challenges, science expos, lectures, and career exploration opportunities. Events are designed to spark curiosity, develop skills, and demonstrate how STEM shapes our everyday lives and future careers. This year’s Festival highlights Artificial Intelligence (AI) and maker spaces, encouraging participants to explore emerging technologies, unleash their creativity, and discover the excitement of hands-on learning. Adding to this year’s celebration, Governor Wes Moore has proclaimed October 17 as Maryland Maker Day, recognizing the importance of the state’s maker community and its contributions to innovation, creativity, and learning. The Festival encourages makerspaces and other organizations to open their doors and host activities that showcase the power of making and hands-on discovery.

With events taking place throughout Maryland and extending into Washington, D.C., the Festival offers opportunities for everyone—from young makers and aspiring scientists to educators, professionals, and lifelong learners. Many events are free and open to the public, making STEM accessible to people of all ages, backgrounds, and experience levels.
“The Maryland STEM Festival is built on the belief that STEM is for everyone,” said Phil Rogofsky, Founder and Executive Director of the Maryland STEM Festival. “Whether you’re exploring artificial intelligence, building something for the first time, or discovering a new career path, there’s an opportunity to learn, create, and be inspired. We encourage everyone to find an event, bring a friend or family member, and experience the excitement of STEM firsthand.”

The public is encouraged to explore the Festival’s offerings, participate in activities, and share these opportunities with friends, family, and colleagues. For event listings and additional information, visit www.marylandstemfestival.org.
