Dumbhundred Historic District Nomination Moving Forward

On Tuesday, October 20th the Governor’s Consulting Committee voted to approve the nomination, as communicated by Jessica French, National Register Administrator, Maryland Historical Trust to Dan Mullin. This follows the Cumberland Historic Preservation Commission’s vote to support the nomination on October 14.
The GCC requested minor revisions, including added context on local building trades and comparisons to other Cumberland historic districts. Once revised, State Historic Preservation Officer Elizabeth Hughes will sign the nomination and forward it to the National Park Service for final determination. The Maryland Historical Trust has 90 days from the GCC meeting to submit the final packet.
The proposed district encompasses roughly 590 contributing structures built 1850–1930 bounded by Henderson Avenue, Franklin Street, Bedford Street, and Independence Street.
