CHCO Encourages Vigilance

Cemeteries across the country are experiencing an increase in vandalisms as thieves target bronze grave markers and vases for scrap value as well as general property destruction and hate crimes.  Recently, the president of the Cumberland Historic Cemetery Organization, Ed Taylor, Jr. was a guest on WCBC and he encourages residents to keep a watch on any cemeteries near them and report unusual activity…

“If you see anything out of the ordinary, especially at night, call the police and have them come up. Many of these monuments, even though they cost a fortune to restore, no amount of money can restore them because there’s no one in this country has the artwork skills to reproduce some of these monuments.”
