Buckel Not A “Career Politician”

House Minority Leader Jason Buckel has led the House Republican party in Annapolis since 2021. Though he is running for re-election in November, he says there’s no desire to be a career politician but enjoys being part of the team that has done a good job of representing Western Maryland against downstate Democrats that are much different from local politicians.  Buckel says a good deal of experience is needed in that political environment…

“When you step in to the halls in Annapolis, you’re dealing with the entire state of 6.3 roughly million people. The political environment is extremely different. You obviously have a completely different skillset, really, than what you have for local government.”
