Portion of GAP Trail Remains Closed

Item Description: Cyclists biking during the Fall
Jim Zamagias

A portion of the Great Allegheny Passage remains closed following a landslide that killed one biker and injured another on October 19th. The landslide occurred along the hiking and biking trail in Ohiopyle State Park near Connellsville, Pennsylvania. There is no timeline for reopening that portion of the trail, but local GAP Ambassador Larry Brock says bikers should still make the trek and shuttles around the landslide are running…

“Go for it! It’s a bike adventure, enjoy it. From what I’ve been told and from the couple of people I’ve talked to that have come either way, it’s not that hard to get around. If you go to the GAP Conservancy site, they do have a route around it on there.”
