Monument Will Bring Tourists To Area

A new monument honoring America’s 250th anniversary will be unveiled on Sunday, November 1st at SS. Peter and Paul cemetery. The 16-foot monument made of granite and including an Italian-made statue of St. Michael the Archangel is dedicated to all deceased Allegany County residents. According to Ed Taylor, Jr of the Cumberland Historic Cemetery Organization, the monument will be a new stop for tourists…
“It’s an area where you can pull right up so people that aren’t too mobile can just open the door and you’re right there. It’s a great read, really will tell the history and it’s something you can take away with you and remember and it’s also a great photo-op monument.”
