City Police Report for Sunday

On November 1st, 2026 at approximately 1:23 a.m., officers from the Cumberland Police Department were in the area of 20 S. Mechanic Street responding to a disturbance. As officers arrived on the scene, they began clearing a large group of people from the business. During this time, a male who refused to leave the area yelled at and taunted the officers. One of the male’s friends then began to escort him away. As officers were clearing, the same male started to walk back towards the business and created a disturbance by continually yelling.  He was again ordered to leave the area. At this time he approached officers with closed fists and engaged in a fighting stance. Officers informed him he was under arrest, and he began to back away. As officers attempted to place him in hand restraints, he actively resisted. Once handcuffed, he continued to resist officers’ attempts to place him into a police cruiser.  As officers escorted him to the cruiser, he began to kick and spit at them. After being placed into the cruiser he kicked the doors, causing substantial damage. He was later identified as Nehemiah Matthew Younger. Younger was transported to Central Booking where he is currently awaiting a bond review.

CHARGES: Disorderly Conduct, Disturbing the Peace, Failure to Obey, Resisting Arrest, Assault (x4), Malicious Destruction of Property

 

Assault

 

On November 1st, 2026 at approximately 2:15 a.m., officers from the Cumberland Police Department responded to the area of E. Fourth Street for reports of an active assault. Upon arrival officers could hear yelling coming from a residence in the area. They made contact with the victim who advised that they needed to get away from Darrius Devon’Te Harris. They further advised that they were arguing with Harris and that he had shoved them in the chest. The officer observed redness and bruising consistent with the victim’s statement. Officers then contacted Harris.  Harris confirmed the argument, and after a brief investigation he was placed under arrest. Harris was transported to Central Booking where he is currently awaiting a bond review.
