Traffic Study For Keyser Requested

Route 220 Keyser
Kathy Cornwell

Increasing traffic and a few close calls on US Route 220 through Keyser has prompted Mineral County Delegate Gary Howell to request a traffic study from the West Virginia Department of Highways.  More and more, drivers are illegally using the road median as a merge lane when exiting businesses and residential areas, according to Howell. The study may determine if it’s time for a road expansion…

“We know that the North-South corridor is under tier-two study for a four-lane, but that’s years and years away. Is it possible to go in and widen the existing 220 to five lanes like you see in a lot of areas. You have two southbound and two northbound.”
