Alsobrooks Explains No-Vote On DHS Funding

Kathy Cornwell

Kathy Cornwell has spent over 40 years in local media, starting her career with an internship at WCBC in the late 1980s. After graduating from Frostburg State University, she worked extensively in cable television advertising and programming with Comcast. From 2002 to 2005, she was married to WCBC's Jim Robey. Kathy returned to the News Department at WCBC in 2023. She lives in Cumberland with her husband, retired radio station manager Rich Cornwell.

Almost all Democrats in the U.S. Senate have come out against any further funding for the Department of Homeland Security. Among them is the freshman Senator from Maryland, Angela Alsobrooks.  Alsobrooks explained that she believes, along with many of her fellow senators, that the DHS needs a major overhaul…

“It’s horrific, what we’ve seen. So, not another penny but you’re right, we should level set. $75 billion dollars already has been appropriated and has been passed by these Republicans in that Big Beautiful Bill. Why should we put another penny toward this organization?”
