The Passages of the Western Potomac Heritage Area received three grants from Governor Wes Moore’s $5 million FY27 Maryland Heritage Grant Awards.  Cumberland Main Street Inc. received $25,000 for the Cumberland Wayfinding Project.  The Canal Place Preservation and Development Authority obtained $200,000 for their FY27 Management Grant and $100,000 for Phase One of the River Park Project.  Kim Folk from the authority says these grants go back into the community by promoting local economic development…

“The Heritage Areas are an economic driver for their areas, they are a tourism mechanism, and this money all supports those types of projects and initiatives.”
