Attorney General Suing To Stop Detention Facility

Maryland’s Attorney General, Anthony Brown, announced on Monday that his office has filed suit to stop the Trump administration’s construction of a massive federal immigration detention center in Washington County. The warehouse purchased by the federal government is located in Williamsport and may hold up to 1,500 detainees. AG Brown said the transaction happened behind closed doors and without environmental review, public input, or state consultation…
“We allege the administration violated the National Environmental Policy Act by skipping the environmental review the law requires. We allege they violated the Administrative Procedure Act by acting without explanation or any consideration of alternatives. We’re asking the court to halt construction and operation of this facility.”
