Bench Warrant Arrest

On Thursday, April 2, 2026 at approximately 11:30 AM, officers of the Cumberland Police Department responded to a business in the 900 block of E. Oldtown Rd. for a theft. The staff reported that Chantee Carey shoplifted from the store the previous day and prior to officers’ arrival. Police contacted Carey and learned that she had an active bench warrant. The warrant was issued as the result of Carey violating probation on an original charge of Assault-2nd Degree-LE/P&P/FIRE/EM. Carey was arrested and transported to police headquarters. She was issued two criminal citations for theft and transported to Central Booking. Carey was later seen by a District Court Commissioner for a bond hearing in regards to the warrant. At the conclusion, she was held at the Allegany County Detention Center on a temporary commitment.
