Bridge Work Held Up At Federal Level

It may be hard to imagine, but every day really does bring Cumberland closer to a bridge repair project on Cumberland Street. While the city has done all of its due diligence on the project, it is now a waiting game for the federal government’s okay. Mayor Ray Morriss tells WCBC city engineer Bobby Smith is continuing to remind the feds about the project…

“They’ve had it since June. The federal highways has had the Cumberland Street bridge project on their desks waiting on them for their answer since June and we’re still battling. Bobby is calling weekly and talking to them saying hey, any updates, when can we expect something.”
