Canal Place CDS, Trespassing Arrest

On Tuesday, September 1st, 2026, officers with the Cumberland Police Department observed a male subject in the area of the Western Maryland Scenic Railway, trespassing on WMSR property. Officers stopped the male, and identified him as Daniel Stephen Fiddes, 37, of Cumberland MD. Officers then advised Fiddes he would be placed under arrest and cited for the trespassing offense. During a search incident to arrest, officers discovered Fiddes possessed a quantity of suspected methamphetamine and CDS paraphernalia. As a result, Fiddes received criminal citations for the offenses and was released, pending trial in District Court.
