Canal Place Receives ARC Grant for Sediment Testing

The Canal Place Preservation and Development Authority received $700,000 from the Appalachian Regional Commission for Sediment Sampling as part of the River Park project. The ARC funding will be used to procure a qualified firm to create a sediment management plan in advance of removing an industrial dam where the future whitewater course is planned. As a whole, the park is expected to generate $41.7 million in tax revenue and attract one million visitors annually.
