Candidates See Party System As A Hindrance

The county commissioner race in Allegany County is really the first level in government where party affiliation plays a part. Democratic candidate Chelsea Boor says the 2-party system has caused voters to look at a lot of candidates as evil instead of what they’re saying…
“I think that any person that’s in any office especially locally – it needs to be the person who is willing to work with everyone. It needs to be the person who is willing to cross party lines, no matter what party that’s to, to make sure we’re working with the best people for the people.”
Republican incumbent Dave Caporale says voting matters more than affiliation…
“I don’t think it comes into play. Some of the things you see nationally, it doesn’t affect what we do here and it shouldn’t affect what we do here. I know people on both sides. It’s up to the people ultimately who they vote for.”
