City Police Chief Praises Department Efficiency

Cumberland Police Chief James Pyles says he thought he had seen it all during his time as an officer in the City of Baltimore, but crime remains prevalent in Cumberland, too.  Chief Pyles says the department answers numerous calls and responds to a variety of incidents each day…

“Every day we deal with drug addiction, property crimes that go with drug addiction, the homeless, and mental illness.  The Cumberland Police Department in twenty-four hours—keep in mind the City of Cumberland is ten-square-miles, 19,000 people—and we average one hundred calls in twenty-four-hours.  So, we’re very busy.  They do a great job.”
