City Recognizes Mullan Family Legacy

Kathy Cornwell

The Cumberland Mayor and City Council recognized the Mullan family’s legacy in the Cumberland area during Wednesday’s meeting.  The Mullan family moved here in the 1800s and established family-owned businesses such as Builders Paint and Supply which helped start Cumberland’s small business tradition.  For the second year in a row, Mrs. Joyce Mullan McGreevy and 50 Mullan descendants returned to the area for a Mullan Family reunion.  Mayor Ray Morriss said their reunion keeps history alive…

“Such acts of returning, remembering, and reconnecting not only promote tourism but serve as a powerful reminder that Cumberland is not only a place of historical significance, but a living community that continues to welcome back families whose stories began here.”
