City Wants Payout from Litigation

The City of Cumberland has joined in a lawsuit with other cities charging damages from exposure to PFAs in firefighting foam. Litigation against manufacturers including 3M allege that PFAs in aqueous film-forming foam used to fight fires caused cancer, health issues, and groundwater contamination. The suit is ongoing, but Mayor Ray Morriss says the city is working to get a portion of a settlement…

“Right now, I think the fund shows $14.3 billion that’s out there. We would like to, you know, get our share.”
