City’s Anti-Discrimination Code will Remain Unchanged

At Tuesday’s Cumberland Mayor and City Council meeting, members of the “Safe Haven” group—who presented a petition back in October—again requested that the council change the city’s anti-discrimination code to include gender identification.  They asked for a timeline for when to expect a vote from the council, but Mayor Ray Morriss said like any request, they are unable to give a definite timeline…

“There’s been people who have been coming in for quite a few years requesting that we take fluoride out of the water.  There’s no timeframe.  We as a group have decided to not move forward with that, and I think that’s the same with this.  At this point in time, I don’t know that we’re looking to move forward with it, but we’re always willing to listen and you’re always welcome to come back and tell us how you feel.”
