Clean Slate Bill Introduced
A bill that would make it easier for those leaving prison to find employment and housing has been introduced in both the Senate and House of the Maryland General Assembly. Senate Bill 483/House Bill 360, known as the Clean Slate Act of 2026, is sponsored by Delegate David Moon and Senator Mike McKay. McKay says it deals with the cleanup of case records for those who have served time in prison…
“When you have served your time, the information that would be on Case Search, the information that would be for the public, will have already been expunged, except for heinous crime stuff.”
The Senator said the bill being cosponsored by a Democrat is a testament to collaboration…
“I think it speaks to the ability to work across the line to ultimately pass legislation that’s good for the citizens of Maryland.”
