Columbus Statue Installed At White House

Kathy Cornwell

A statue of Christopher Columbus that once stood in Baltimore before vandals tossed it into the city harbor has found a new home in Washington D.C.  Maryland Delegate Nino Mangione aided efforts to recover the statue of Columbus from the Baltimore Harbor in July of 2020. Mangione said Italian Americans celebrate Columbus’ efforts of discovery and opening trade routes with Europe. The statue now stands outside the Eisenhower Executive Office Building within White House grounds.
