Coney Christmas Tree to be Moved

Christmas in the Town of Lonaconing will look a little different this year.  The town’s Christmas tree will be relocated from its usual position right along Route 36 to Iron Furnace Park. According to Mayor Jack Coburn, the town is making the move ahead of the December 9^th tree lighting for safety reasons…

“It has always been downtown near the Presbyterian Church, but we’re noticing more and more people are showing up for it and being that it’s right on the highway at six o’clock at night, we’re concerned that the kids aren’t always careful of moving traffic.  By putting it back up in the Iron Furnace Park, that’ll alleviate any traffic issues.”
