County Schools Cellphone Policy

Each public school system in Maryland is mandated to have a cell phone policy in place for students.  The public information officer for Allegany County Schools, Kris Kehrwald, explained to WCBC the policy for middle school students…

“Students in Middle School – cellphones must silenced and stored in lockers for the entire school day. Students may use their cellphones before and after school in a non-disruptive manner with approval from a school administrator.”

Kehrwald told WCBC there are slight differences for cell phone use for high school students…

“Student in high schools – cellphones must be silenced and stored out of sight during the school day except for during lunch. Students may use their cellphones before school, after school, and during lunch in a non-disruptive manner.”
