Following recent discussion on the Dave Norman program, WCBC News asked Allegany County Schools how they teach local history to students. Public Information Officer Kris Kehrwald replied that the “Maryland, My Maryland” curriculum is no longer used, but US History classes use figures from Maryland’s past and present to incorporate the state into the nation’s history. Classes also have field trips to the state’s national and state historic sites to experience the past firsthand.
