County Thanks All Who Ensured Student Safety During Threat

Kathy Cornwell

Late last month, Allegany High School went on lockdown due to receiving an outside threat to the school.  School staff ensured the safety of the students until a police Investigation was conducted, and the parameter cleared.  Students were transferred to Allegany College of Maryland for dismissal.  At the most recent county commissioner meeting, Commission President David Caporale thanked all who played a part in making sure students were safe…

“Thank Law Enforcement, Allegany College, Board of Ed, Teachers, students, and parents.  Gone are the days, I think, that you can have the doors propped open and the windows open.  We wish we had those back, but everybody’s actions ensured that everybody was safe and taken care of during this threat.  They were on the spot, and we can’t thank them enough for keeping the kids safe.”
