Developers Invest in City the more Blighted Properties are Targeted

The Community Development Department reviewed the last five years with the Cumberland Mayor and City Council Tuesday evening.  Targeting blighted “unlivable” properties was a main topic, and because of the Home Rehabilitation Grant program that launched in 2022, Ken Tressler Director of Administrative Services says other developers have started investing in the areas…

“They see the improvements we’re making, and they buy the property.  They do everything.  They don’t ask for any city funding.  So, there are private developers just hitting the same areas we are because they see it improving and it makes better investment for them because we’re cleaning up the areas.”
