Energy Secretary Says Gas Hikes Temporary

Area drivers are continuing to feel the effects of the military action in Iran at the local fuel pumps.  AAA cited that prices in the Cumberland area a month ago averaged around $3.12 per gallon for unleaded fuel. That price has jumped 12% to $3.50 per gallon. U.S. Energy Secretary Chris Wright, speaking on Face the Nation, said the price increase will correct soon…

“We have a temporary period of elevated energy prices, but it will not be long. In the worst case, this is weeks. This is not months. And it leads to a much better place. It leads to an Iran that’s defanged, that can’t threaten its neighbors, can’t threaten American soldiers, and can’t continue to drive up energy prices.”
