Fitch Ratings has upgraded West Virginia’s lottery and excess lottery revenue bonds from A+ to AA-. Fitch cited strong resilience of financing structures and ample debt service coverage. West Virginia’s overall Issuer Default Rating remains AA with a Stable Outlook. Governor Patrick Morrissey says it’s a reflection of the fiscal prudency of the state…

“It also makes it easier for us to get lower interest rates if we have to borrow and to keep doing good things for our state. More good management, more good news for West Virginia. That’s going to allow us to do even more to make life more affordable for everyday people.”
