Frostburg State University has received approval from the University System of Maryland to expand its in-state tuition footprint in the fall of 2027. Eligible undergraduates whose permanent home is in any county in Pennsylvania and West Virginia, along with select counties in Virginia, Ohio and New York will qualify for FSU’s in-state tuition rate. Interim President Darlene Brannigan Smith said the move expands affordable access to higher education across the Appalachian region, simplifies pricing, and provides more transparency for students.
