Furnace Street Assault Arrest

On Monday, January 19th, 2026, officers from the Cumberland Police Department responded to a reported assault in the 400 Block of Furnace Street. Upon arrival, officers made contact with the victim, who reported being assaulted by Dajaynae Joy Painter. Officers observed injuries consistent with the victim’s statement. Dajaynae Painter was arrested at the scene and transported to the Allegany County Detention Center. Following a bond hearing before a District Court Commissioner, Painter was released on an unsecured personal bond.
